The Colombia Plan for the masses of our country brought with it the greatest number of displaced in history, a strong repression of the popular and student movement, the increase in massacres against the masses and the great strengthening of paramilitarism.

From the government of Juan Manuel Santos in 2015, a series of permits and constructions are carried out on the Gorgona Island, in the municipality of Guapi, department of Cauca to build a guide substation financed by the United States International Anti -Narcotics Assistance Office. The historical excuse of Yankee imperialism to gain greater military control of our nation is the war against drug trafficking. The same justification used in 1999 with the implementation of Plan Colombia, which implied financing of more than 10,000 million dollars, the greatest military financial support after the one granted to Israel.

The island has a key geostrategic position, it served much of the last century as a marketing and supply zone between Panama and Peru. Even so, US military forces say it is a necessity to control the island because 37% of coca cargo is transported annually.

For the protests and complaints made by the communities, Petro was pushed to Pausar the project in February 2023.

The Petro government has positioned itself as the most environmentalist in the continent, especially currently in the midst of the fires generated by the phenomenon of the child and the global climatic crisis generated by imperialism.
