The recent weeks of arrest, espionage and harassment of military elements against progressive and activists in the Region of Negros, Bicol and Southern Tagalog have recorded in recent weeks.

In Negros Occidental, police arrested Pertinisa Jereula Charita, 55, while visiting her husband in jail in San Carlos City on February 13. According to human rights advocates Negros (Hran), police arrested Charit .

Charita, a member of the Brother-Negros and the National Federation of Sugar Workers (NFSW), was the wife of Leon Charita, who was arrested in September 2019 in a case of illegal possession of firearms and explosives. Pertinisa was with her children and grandchildren when she visited Leon to commemorate her birthday in jail.
