Last week, resident peasants from Marielle Franco Community , located in Labrea, in southern Amazonas, denounced a new attack on workers by military police from the Acre Special Operations Battalion (Bope). According to complaints, the repression agents acted in favor of the landlord, kidnapped and torturing the peasants, who were either hospitalized or were missing.
The report was sent on behalf of the peasant leader of the region, Paulo Araújo the magazine Cenarium, where he counts, reporting the action of the gunmen:
“Our companions were approached by people saying Bope's military police. They were held hostage and caught knee. A live was done showing what was being done. We suspect that the images were sent to the farmer, ”he said.
Men would have arrived in the community, captured some peasants and expelled others from the region on the basis of fire. The men who were captured report brutal tortures against workers. In the videos sent by the peasants, it is possible to see residents running to take shelter from the shooting of the military, as well as the other workers recording the torture suffered.
Conflicts intensify
With each new attack on the estate troops, brutality to camp Marielle Franco only increases. The camping has been suffering a siege of paramilitar and land grabbers for years .
The peasants denounced that the areas where they live are claimed by the landowners Sidney Sanches Zamora and Sidney Sanches Zamora Filho, who baptized the land as Palotina Farm. The peasants still claim that they are public lands of the Union.
Since December 2023, the armed attacks against the peasants have intensified, who have already reiterated that the Participation of police, military and civilian forces, among the landlord troops are common.
