Previous Week the military exercise "Cold Response" was implemented. The exercise is led by the Norwegian military and is part of NATOS Strategic activities in the Nordic countries in general and the Barents region in particular.
The exercise was first held in 2006, and this year's exercise is claimed to be the largest of its kind ever in the region. The exercise is carried out as part of the so-called "steadfast defender" exercise, which this year has been referred to as the largest military exercise since the Cold War.
The Norwegian military writes that over 20,000 soldiers participate in the exercise, and that the participants come from Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany and the United States.
This year's exercise is reportedly conducted in Norway, Sweden and Finland, and as a result of Finland's incorporation into NATO, the name of "Nordic Response" has changed.
- There will be particularly great activity at sea with over 50 registered submarines, frigates, corvettes, aircraft carriers and various amphibious vessels, the Norwegian military writes on its website.
The escalated military activity must be seen on the basis of the general crisis and decay in imperialism. Imperialism wraps itself in increasingly strong contradictions and is desperately trying to get out of them in the only way it knows, through more and more military renovation and reaction.
